Chapter 1. Introduction students over time. It examines the effect of temperature on student performance. For this purpose, it uses Dutch panel data between 2013 and 2023, combined with grid-level outdoor weather data. The chapter estimates the effect of test-day temperature on students’ test scores, and explores sleep disruption, proxied by the temperature in the night before the test, as potential mechanism.
