396 Appendix Curriculum Vitae Jari Kylian Gool was born on July 11, 1995, in Leiderdorp, the Netherlands. His academic journey began at the Groene Hart Lyceum in Alphen aan den Rijn, where he completed high school in 2013. Driven by a passion for medicine, he pursued a bachelor’s degree in Medicine at Leiden University, immersing himself in both academics and research. During this time, he completed the Honours College program, which introduced him to neurological MRI research on chronic migraine under the guidance of Dennis Kies. After earning his bachelor’s degree in 2016, Jari enrolled in a twoyear master’s program in Science and Business Management at Utrecht University. Alongside his studies, he co-founded the Avicenna Health Hack, an interdisciplinary hackathon dedicated to developing technological solutions for healthcare challenges, which has since become an annual event. His master’s studies included an internship investigating white matter integrity in narcolepsy type 1 under the supervision of Ysbrand van der Werf, Gert Jan Lammers, and Rolf Fronczek. This work became the foundation for his PhD research and contributed to Chapter 5 of his dissertation. Jari relocated to Amsterdam, where he simultaneously began his master studies in Medicine and a PhD at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. His PhD research focused on central disorders of hypersomnolence and involved collaborations with institutions including Amsterdam UMC, Sleep-Wake Centre SEIN, Leiden University Medical Center, Concordia University in Montreal, and the European Narcolepsy Network. During his PhD, he undertook two two-month research visits to Concordia University to conduct the first harmonized multicenter MRI study on central disorders of hypersomnolence. These efforts also led to the establishment of the Neuroimaging Consortium for Central Disorders of Hypersomnolence, where Jari now serves on the Steering Committee. He is a member of the Database Committee of the European Narcolepsy Network and was chair of the Young Scientists Committee and board member of the Netherlands Society of Sleep-Wake Research. His research has been recognized with multiple awards and grants, and he has presented his findings at international conferences. After moving to Utrecht, Jari successfully completed his master’s degree in Science and Business Management alongside his PhD work in 2022. This included a business internship at Berenschot Consultancy Group, where he focused on strengthening their digital health strategies. Following this, he transitioned to his clinical rotations. In May 2024, Jari earned his medical license and began clinical practice as a junior physician in the Department of Neurology at Haaglanden Medical
