158 Chapter 6 disease stage most clinical trials are currently interested in. In this early-disease population lower rCBF predicted memory decline, while steeper decreases in rCBF over time were predictive of global longitudinal cognitive functioning in CI individuals only. This may support a role for longitudinal measures of CBF in tools aimed at predicting cognitive decline. It also indicates that tau pathology and changes in CBF are (partly) independent factors predicting cognitive decline, partially masking each other’s effect on cognition.
