115 SPECT/CT in post-operative hand and wrist pain Figure 11 Suggested imaging flowchart for postoperative hand and wrist pain. Conclusions In conclusion, bone-SPECT/CT is a promising new tool to image patients with pain after surgery if predominantly osseous abnormalities are suspected. SPECT/CT imaging protocols have been established and are increasingly used in daily routine. Published literature regarding SPECT/CT of the wrist in general is very limited and nearly non-existent in the specific postoperative situation. Understanding of operative procedures, patients’ history, knowledge of bone scintigraphy patterns, CT morphology, relationship to other imaging modalities such as X-ray and MR, and close collaboration with surgeons are essential for successful application of SPECT/ CT in this area.
