After graduation, Lise seized the opportunity to combine research and clinical practice as a scientist-practitioner at Inforsa Forensic Outpatient Care in Amsterdam, the forensic mental healthcare department of Arkin Mental Health Institute. In July 2016, after two years of pioneering and preparatory research activities as well as clinical work in a forensic flexible assertive community treatment (FACT) team at Inforsa, she obtained a research grant from the Stichting tot Steun VCVGZ, which made it possible to officially start her PhD research project. The research was conducted at Inforsa Forensic Outpatient Care and De Regenboog Groep (informal care institute), in collaboration with researchers from the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry & Psychosocial Care of the Amsterdam University Medical Center (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and the Department of Research and Quality of Care (Arkin). Simultaneously, in 2018, Lise started a post-master training program to become a GZ-psycholoog [licensed healthcare psychologist] at Arkin. During this training period, she gained more clinical experience in forensic outpatient treatment at Inforsa and trauma treatment at Sinai Centrum. In January 2022, after having completed her clinical training, she decided to focus on research to complete her PhD project. To take full advantage of this “research sabbatical”, she left for New Zealand in November 2022 for five months to work on the final articles of this dissertation at the University of Auckland (Faculty of Science, School of Psychology) and to explore the islands of New Zealand. After traveling, Lise resumed her clinical work at Inforsa in a forensic FACT team for youth and young adults. Furthermore, after her PhD defense, she probably will have regained courage for new practice-oriented research adventures aimed at stitching the social fabric of society.
