267 Summary This dissertation provides theoretical underpinnings and a starting point for institutionalization in practice, but much work is needed to create a transformative-deliberative society in which conflicts can be swiftly resolved and effective cooperation can be achieved in the face of clashing identity differences. We must urgently take on this challenge. IRMCs can lead to a lot of suffering. And major global challenges, such as combating climate change, protecting biodiversity and preventing famine, require effective cooperation despite major differences in fundamental values.
