101 PROTEIN AND ENERGY INTAKE DURING ICU-RECOVERY 6 Taste and swallowing difficulties were reported by some patients throughout the year (taste: 28%, 16%, and 12%; swallowing: 16%, 7%, and 9% at 3, 6 and 12-months, resp.). Higher daily protein intake was associated with lower BMI at ICU-admission, more visits to a registered dietician and use of dietary supplements (ρ=-0.330, ρ=0.207 & ρ=0.426, resp. ). In addition, female patients used dietary supplements moreoften, but therewas nonotable correlationbetween sex andpre-admission frailty or any of the other ICU and recovery characteristics. Patients with a more complicated recovery trajectory, identified as a higher number of ICU and/or hospital readmissions, more often used dietary supplements (ρ=0.282 & ρ=0.257). Furthermore, there was a strong correlation between swallowing difficulties and taste issues (ρ=0.563). However, no significant correlation was found between protein intake and ICU and hospital readmissions or mortality. Amore extensive exploration of correlations between disease and nutrition-related factors and outcomes can be found in Figure 4. Figure 4. Correlation matrix displaying the interconnectedness of predisposed frailty, ICU and recovery characteristics with daily protein intake. Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient (ρ), with blue colour coding for notable positive correlations and red colour coding for negative correlations. *p<0.05, **p<0.01, *** p<0.001, na* not applicable due to mortality before 3m follow-up.
