51 Interventions to relieve ED crowding by older adults CHAPTER 3 Results Search results Our initial search identified 10,749 records. After exclusion of duplicates 7,354 records were screened by title and abstract. 22 full-text studies were retrieved and reviewed of which 9 were excluded. Three studies were identified through snowballing. The final set consisted of 16 published studies that underwent fulltext extraction (figure 1). Study characteristics The characteristics of the included studies are summarized in supplement 2. Eight RCT’s [29-36], six CBA studies [37-42], and two NRCT’s [43, 44], fulfilled our inclusion criteria.
