195 The questionnaire for the impact of drooling on daily life, social interaction, and self-esteem should be validated as an instrument to evaluate the quality of life. The long-term effect, quality of life, and cost-effectiveness of SMGE, SMDR, and 2-DL should be compared to identify which surgery keeps the best balance between the burden and the relief in drooling and its related improvement in the quality of life. Predictors for surgical success should be evaluated externally and preferably in a larger patient cohort. Future studies should evaluate the effect of 2-DL in posterior drooling. Moreover, future research should study the effect of posterior drooling upon overall survival and evaluate whether mortality is influenced by saliva control surgery like 2-DL and SMGE.
