178 Appendix 1 – Additional results Diagnostic methods Table 1 shows the results of all methods when comparing healthy controls, sarcoidosis patients without symptoms and no SFN, sarcoidosis patients with symptoms and no SFN, and sarcoidosis patients with probable SFN. TTT NOAs were higher in sarcoidosis patients with probable SFN compared to sarcoidosis patients without symptoms and no SFN (p=0.003). Corneal confocal microscopy showed a decrease in CNWL in sarcoidosis patients with probable SFN compared to healthy controls (p=0.05). Skin biopsy, Sudoscan and water immersion skin wrinkling showed no differences between the four subgroups. After 5 minutes of supine position, patients with sarcoidosis showed significantly higher BP and HR. After 3 minutes of standing, sarcoidosis patients with symptoms and clinical signs of SFN showed higher blood pressure and heart rate compared to healthy controls (p=0.05 for systolic BP, p=0.001 for diastolic BP and p=0.002 for HR). After 3 minutes of upright position, healthy controls showed lower BP compared to sarcoidosis patients without symptoms and clinical signs of SFN (p=0.02) and sarcoidosis patients with symptoms and clinical signs of SFN (p=0.05). However, none of the participants met the criteria for OH. 186
