221 About the author A About the author Michelle Snijder was born May 10, 1994 in Roermond, the Netherlands, and grew up in Echt. After completing high school at Connect College in Echt in 2012, she moved to Nijmegen to study ‘Pedagogische Wetenschappen’ at Radboud University. During her master’s program, Michelle completed a clinical internship at Gastenhof, Koraalgroep, an intensive treatment center for children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities and co-occurring psychiatric problems. Following her graduation, Michelle combined two roles and worked as a research assistant at the dr. Leo Kannerhuis and as a social worker at the Driestroom. Her experience as a research assistant sparked her interest in practice-oriented research, which led her to apply for a PhD position at Karakter University Center for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. In 2017, she began her doctoral research as part of the SCOPE project, which focused on improving early detection and intervention for very young children with vulnerable social-communicative development and investigated shortterm and six-month effects of the BEAR intervention. Alongside her PhD research, Michelle worked as child psychologist at Karakter, ‘Centrum Jonge Kind’, providing highly specialized mental healthcare for children aged 0-6 years and their families. In 2024, she began a postmaster’s clinical training program to become a healthcare psychologist and continues her work at Karakter.
